THE EMPOWERING WOMEN GRANT FUND

This International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on the work of our charity partner Home-Start UK. The charity supports families through their toughest times, recognising that being a parent is never easy and a child’s early years are so vitally important.

We’re proud to have partnered with Home-Start since 2020 and we’ve recently donated £100,000 to their Empowering Women project, incorporating a grant to help the mums they support to grow, thrive and feel equipped to determine their own future.

“CHEERLEADING FOR ANOTHER WOMAN IS ONE OF THE MOST EMPOWERING THINGS YOU CAN DO.”

The grant has funded

18 local projects so far, like a refugee support group in mid-Sussex, a group for mums under 25 in Leeds, and STEPS (Steps to Excellence in Personal Success) for marginalised women in the Glasgow area. And so many more, like self-esteem courses in Telford & Wrekin and a therapeutic forest school for mums with health struggles in Erewash.

“YOU WERE THERE WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS.”

“My baby is only 3 weeks old and I had nothing. You have given me a baby cot, stroller, clothes and toys. I can’t thank you enough. My baby is now thriving.”

In Shepway,

for example, the grant has funded a peer support programme for women affected by domestic abuse. They’ve run activities like a Kintsugi art workshop and a children’s Christmas party to help the women re-build their confidence and meet others, sending pamper packages to any women not yet feeling able to join.

“A LIFELINE.”
